James E. "Jim Ed" Wright, age 83
James E. "Jim Ed" Wright, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 12:56 AM - Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM – Monday, August 22, 2016, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois, with Fr. Dean Probst. Burial will in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Olney, Illinois, with full military rites. Visitation will held 4:00-7:00 PM – Sunday, August 21, 2016, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, and ½ hour before the service at the church. In loving memory of Jim Ed, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Fund P.O. Box 333 Newton, Illinois 62448.
James E. better known as "Jim Ed" was born on August 14, 1933, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Henry E. and Jolly Grace (Bauman) Wright. He married Theresa Ann Ochs on December 29, 1962, at. St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney, Illinois, and she preceded him in death on December 15, 1983.
Jim Ed was a graduate of Newton Community High School and graduated with the Class of 1952. After high school he served in the United States Army.
Jim Ed worked at Al Rohr Chevrolet in Newton and St. Thomas School and Church.
Jim Ed was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and the Jasper Post #20 American Legion in Newton.
Jim Ed is survived by:
Daughters – Christina Wright of Olney, Illinois
Susan Wright of Newton, Illinois
Angie (Ron) St. Clair of Newton, Illinois
Grandchildren – Brett Allison St. Clair (Kyle Armstrong), Gunner St. Clair (Katie Chapman),
Connor Perkins, Abigail Perkins and Ian Perkins.
Great Grandson – Jace Lee St. Clair
Jim Ed was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
