James F. Gilbert, age 77
Of Clay City, Kentucky and former resident of Hidalgo, Illinois passed away at 9:30 AM - Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Baptist Health Care Center in Corbin, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM – Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Meyer Funeral Home (formerly Bishop Funeral Home) in Greenup, Illinois. Burial will be in the Aten Cemetery in Hidalgo, Illinois with full military rites. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service.
James was born on June 29, 1937 in Hidalgo, Illinois the son of Clifford and Celia (Hires) Gilbert.
James was a veteran serving his country in the United States Army.
James retired from Hyster of Danville and enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved to visit with his friends and sometimes would sit for hours just to chat.
James is survived by:

Jim (Twilla) Gilbert of Cayuga, Indiana
Brother – Jack Gilbert of Columbus, Mississippi

Vera Eubank of Newton, Illinois
Grandchildren – Frankie, Anthony, Christian, Brittany Lynn, Tiffany, Ashley Mae,
Shannon, Jerimiah, Jennifer, Jesse, Jerry, Gary and Jackie
Great Grandchildren –
Alisha Jean, Nikkei, Emily, Jessi, Freya, Fiona, Reagan and Darren
James was preceded in death by his parents; 2 children Albert Gilbert and Catherine Threet; 3 Grandchildren Kyle, Todd and Jerred; 2 brothers Billy Gilbert and Gene Gilbert and a sister Linda Smith.
