James Richard "Dick" Tarpley, Sr., 78 of Olney passed away at 6:40 PM on Friday, August 7, 2015 at his residence.

Visitation will be from 10 AM - NOON on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at NOON. Burial will be at Maple Dale Cemetery. Reverend Chris Jennette will be officiating.

Richard was born on September 3, 1936 in Wabash County, the son of James William and Ruby Irene (Biehl) Tarpley.

He did factory work for many years and also worked as an electrician. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, gardening, welding, and tinkering with different things. He was a member of Olney Moose Lodge and Olney Eagles. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Richard is survived by his companion Caroline Beaman, of Olney; son James "Rick" Tarpley II, and wife Lisa of Olney; 2 daughters Carol Sanderson, of Olney and Tammy Tarpley, of Olney; brother Gary Tarpley, and wife Rita of Calhoun; 2 grandchildren, Syndal Sanderson and Keegan Tarpley.

He was preceded in death by his parents James William and Ruby Irene Tarpley
