James Eddie Roberts, age 65
James Eddie Roberts, 65, of Aurora, IL passed away Friday, January 8, 2016 at University of Chicago Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, surrounded by his loving children.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM – Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Gospel Kingdom Church 1440 West 3rd Street Mt. Carmel, Illinois 62836 with Bro. John Peach officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Family will be receiving guests 5:00-8:00 PM - Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Dieterle Memorial Home in Montgomery, Illinois and 1 hour before the services in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home (formerly Bishop Funeral Home) in Greenup, Illinois. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.
James was born August 25, 1950 in Welch, West Virginia, the son of Oscar and Minnie Maybell (Lester) Roberts. He was employed as a maintenance technician for General Mills for 47 years. He enjoyed bingo, going to car shows, fishing, drag racing and trap shooting. He is survived by his daughter, Jaime Roberts and his son, Jason Roberts both of Aurora; brother, Walter (Cindy) Roberts of Indiana; 3 sisters, Dennetta (Chuck) Watts, Elizabeth Jones and Diana (Charlie) Steigerwalt all of Indiana.
James was preceded in death by his parents, wife Peggy and a sister Dorretta Spurgeon.
