Janet Kay Carlen, age 65

Of Toledo, Illinois, passed away at 3:00 AM - Friday, February 9, 2018, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM (Noon) – Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at the Meyer Funeral Home Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois, with Virgil Cisney officiating.  Burial will be in the Jack Oak Cemetery north of Greenup, Illinois.  Visitation will be held 2 hours before the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Coles County Humane Society.  The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.

Janet was born January 1, 1953, in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Burton and Imogene (Phillips) Lilly.  She married John Carlen on July 2, 1977, in Mattoon, Illinois, and he survives.

Janet was homemaker, wife, mom and grandma.  She was a member of the Plum Grove Church.

Janet enjoyed gardening and raising goats.

Mother – Imogene Lilly of Oakland, Illinois

Sons – Justin, Jason, Jonathan (wife Jennifer) and Joshua Carlen all of Toledo, Illinois

Grandson – Jackson Carlen of Toledo, Illinois

Step Granddaughters – Sadie and Amelia Colnar of Toledo, Illinois

Brothers – Stanley Lilly

Darrel (wife Diane) Lilly of Oakland, Illinois

Sister – Phyllis Brown of Mattoon, Illinois

Janet was preceded in death by her father.
