Janet V. Laugel, age 93

Janet V. Laugel, age 93, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 5:14 AM - Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Newton Care Center in Newton, Illinois.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM – Monday, January 28, 2019, at the Riverside Cemetery in Newton, Illinois, with Rev. Steve Willis.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.  The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.

Janet was born in Newton, Illinois, on July 8, 1925, the daughter of Charles K. and E. Grace (Scott) Ross.  She married Wayne R.West, later she married James E. Laugel in 1980, and he preceded her in death on July 7, 2004.

Janet owned and operated the Cornbelt Motel in El Paso, Illinois.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newton.

Janet is survived by her son, John 'Jack' N. West and wife, Julie; step children, Paul Laugel, Scott Laugel and Diane Grove; grandchildren, David West and wife Terra & Leticia Meeks and husband Robert; eight step grandchildren; great grandchildren, Garrison and Alicia Meeks; and several step great grandchildren.  Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Wayne R. West; husband, James E. Laugel; one brother and two sisters along with one stepchild and one step grandchild.
