Jean Ann Powers, age 82, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 3:40 AM - Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at her home.
Private services will be held. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. In loving memory of Jean, memorials may be mailed to the Powers Family at 10493 North 1000 th Street, Newton, Illinois 62448. The family ask donors to choose the Jasper County Cancer Fund; Rose Hill Community Church or Chapter FN of P.E.O. Sisterhood. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com .
Jean was born on March 3, 1938, in Winchester, Indiana the daughter of Harry J. and Mildred (Grantham) Myers. She married William L. Powers on December 31, 1959, in Logansport, Indiana.
Jean loved her family and was known by many. She worked as a teller at Peoples State Bank for over 30 years, prior to her retirement. She enjoyed decorating her home with Longaberger baskets, a love she shared with others as a consultant. In her spare time she could be found reading, crocheting, quilting and tending to her flowers. She was a member of Chapter FN of P.E.O. Sisterhood and the Rose Hill Community Church.
Jean is survived by-
Husband of 60 years- William "Bill" Powers of Newton, Illinois
4 Children- Keith (Emily) Powers of Logansport, Indiana; Lori Smith of Ste. Marie, Illinois; Brad Powers of Wheeler, Illinois and
Jeff (Tammy) Powers of Winslow, Indiana
8 Grandchildren- Ryan Smith, Brian (Erin) Powers, Adam (Melissa) Smith, Nikki (Ryan) Britton, Ryan Artrip, Tara Yager,
Halley Powers and Alyx Powers.
8 Great grandchildren- Carson, Connor, Audra, Quinn, Remington, Jack, Ransom and Salem
1 Sister- Bertha Alwine of Mexico, Indiana
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Marty Myers, Barbara Norton and Nancy Gimson and son-in-law Paul E. Smith.
