Obituary

Jeannette (Wallis) Wolf, age 87 of rural Wheeler, Illinois, passed away at 4:45 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2014, as she was surrounded throughout the day by loving family and caregivers at Gowin Parc, 300 Lerna Road, Mattoon , Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Jeannette's life will be held at 11:00 AM - Thursday, March 27, 2014 St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 13204 North 2300th Street Wheeler, IL 62479 (located between Dieterich and Montrose on N. 2300th St.) with Pastor Stephen Gillet officiating. Entombment will be in the St. Paul's Cemetery. A meal will be served following the service. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 PM - Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Blake-Wright Funeral Home 307 East Center Street Dieterich, Illinois, 62424. And there will also be visitation held from 10:00-11:00 AM – Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the church. In loving memory of Jeannette, memorials may be made to the cemetery fund of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 13204 North 2300 Street Wheeler, IL 62479. Jeannette was born on September 17, 1926 in Wickliffe, Kentucky the daughter of Vivian and Kathryne (Hawthorne) Wallis, both educators in the Colorado and Kentucky public school systems. Her brothers are Hawthorne, Neil, Carlisle, and Lewis Wallis. Jeannette attended public schools in Ballard County, Kentucky. She graduated from Barlow-Kevil High School with the class of 1944. Her higher education was from Murray College in Murray, Kentucky, graduating in 1948, with a degree in Library Science. She worked on graduate studies at Bowling Green College in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Upon completion of her schooling she obtained a position as librarian at Effingham High School in Effingham, Illinois, from 1950 to 1955.
She became the bride of Howard Wolf a farmer of Wheeler, Illinois on December 26, 1954, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wheeler, Illinois. Together they raised seven children, the last four being a set of fraternal and a set of identical twins.

Jeannette was a teacher's aide and the school librarian at Muddy Grade School and West Junior High near Wheeler, Illinois, from 1969 to 1988. She enjoyed the life on the farm and was a strong support to her husband. She loved and was devoted to the education and welfare of all her children. She enjoyed traveling to Europe before she married and then later trips to Canada, Mexico and most parts of the United States with family and close friends. Her interests and activities throughout the years included league bowling, Home Extension (Jasper county), Ladies Aide (St. Paul's Lutheran Church), and membership in the P. E.O. Sisterhood (the local Chapter FN). She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, painting, doll making and supporting her children in 4-H clubs. With her physical struggles towards the end of her life she continued to have a positive attitude and was an inspiration to others.
In her youth she was a member of the Baptist church where she was baptized at the age of twelve in the Ohio River. She later entered the Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) in confirmation at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Wheeler, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard, and her son Kenneth; four brothers and son-in-law William R. Graham.
Jeannette is survived by her children Carol Graham of Newville, Pennsylvania; John Wolf of Estes Park, Colorado; Gary (wife Terri) Wolf of Wheeler, IL; Linda Cook of Olney, Illinois; Thomas Wolf of Olney, Illinois and David (wife Lynne) Wolf of Mattoon, Illinois.
Jeannette was blessed to have eleven grandchildren and eleven great grand children. From Gary's family they are Adam (wife Brooke) Wolf and their children, Parker, Drake and Mabry Wolf of Newton, Illinois; Ross Wolf (wife Lynn) Wolf and children Eli and Emery Wolf of Newton, Illinois and Blake (wife Crystal) Wolf of St. Louis, Missouri. From Linda's family they are Chad Cook (Rhiannon) and their child Morgan Cook of Newton, Illinois; Tyler (wife Amanda) Cook and their child Amelia Cook of Moline, Illinois and Jenna Cook of Rock Island, Illinois. From Thomas' family they are Maranda (husband Ryan) Tate and their children Drew and Reagan Tate of Newton, Illinois; Torrey (wife Taryn) Wolf and their children, Beckett and Harper Wolf of Newton, Illinois; and Shelby (husband Brett) Lohman of Dietrich, Illinois. From David's family they are Tiffany and Kira Wolf or Mattoon, Illinois.
