Jerry F. Cox, age 68

Jerry F. Cox of Martinsville, Illinois, passed away at 7:45 AM – Friday, May 6, 2016, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM – Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the Meyer Funeral Home (formerly Bishop Funeral Home) in Greenup, Illinois, with Gene Southard officiating.  Burial will be in the Harmony Cemetery north of Greenup, Illinois.  Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM – Friday, May 13, 2016, at the funeral home with Masonic rites at 7:00 PM.  In loving memory of Jerry, memorials may be made to the family.

Jerry was born on November 20, 1947, in Timothy, Illinois, the son of Otto and Helen (Enyart) Cox.  He married Sallie O'Dell on February 14, 1968, and she preceded him in death on April 28, 2013.

Jerry worked at WKZI Radio station in Casey, Illinois, for 27 years.  He was a member of the Plum Grove Church Baptist Church in rural Greenup, Illinois; life member of the Casey Masonic Lodge #442, were he had served as past master and was a Shriner.

Jerry loved music, he played the trumpet and also was a DJ for many years.   He was avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed his model trains.  He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed every moment he shared with them.

Jerry is survived by his 6 children Andrew (Jessica) Cox of Martinsville, Illinois; Loretta Cox of Chandler, Arizona; Nicole (J.D.) Lanham of Palestine, Illinois; Patty Stuart of Toledo, Illinois; Linda Kiefer of Kentucky and Libby Cox of Robinson, Illinois. Brother – Harold Dean (Donna) Cox of Mattoon, Illinois and 15 grandchildren.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister Jean Grissom.
