Jerry Novak, age 74, of Flora, formerly of Olney, passed away at 12:21 PM on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.

Visitation will be from 9-10 AM on Saturday, March 18, 2017 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home in Olney. Graveside service will be at 10:30 AM at Shiloh Cemetery in Noble. Pastor Rodney Payne will be officiating.

Jerry was born on July 28, 1942 in Olney, the son of Edward and Beulah (Nichols) Novak.

He was a Private in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He also worked for the Illini Builders in Olney. He was a member of the American Legion for many years. He enjoyed gardening and mushroom hunting. He also loved playing the mandolin, banjo, and guitar. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Jerry is survived by his 2 daughters Kim Mason (Kevin Dhom) of Newton and Kelly Novak of Flora; son Eric Novak of Flora; 2 sisters Jessie Brown (Bill) of Cisne and Shelby Jackson (Robert) of Claremont; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Beulah Novak; 2 brothers Merle Novak and Robert Novak; and sister Mary Cunningham.

Memorials can be sent to the American Diabetes Associate in memory of Jerry Novak.
