Joanna Marie Chancellor, age 81

Joanna Marie Chancellor, of Toledo, Illinois, passed away at 5:22 PM – Thursday, April 19, 2018, at her home surrounded by family.

Funeral services celebrating Joanna's life will be held at 11:00 AM – Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at the Meyer Funeral Home - Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois, with Scott Sims officiating.  Burial will be in the Greenup Cemetery in Greenup, Illinois.  Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM – Monday, April 23, 2018, at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Research Hospital.  The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.

Joanna was born on July 1, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Vito and Minnie (Pittacora) Colangelo.  She married Gerald Lee "Pete" Chancellor on October 26, 1957, and he preceded her in death on August 15, 2013.

Joanna was a Certified Nurse's Assistant and worked Our Lady of Mercy Hospital and the Cumberland Nursing Center.  She also worked at the IGA in Greenup.  She was a member of the Christ the King Catholic Church in Greenup, Illinois.

Joanna enjoyed doing cross stich, raising flowers and was a great cook.

Children – David Chancellor of Toledo, Illinois and Sandi (Billy) Gilbert of Toledo, Illinois

Grandchildren – Ashley (Rex) Whetsell of Charleston, Illinois and Adam Gilbert (Taylor Davis) of Effingham, Illinois

Great Granddaughter and bright light in her life – Jolene Whetsell

Sister- Marie (Rich) Chasny of Oak Forest, Illinois

Brother – Anthony (Penny) Colangelo of Franklin, Tennessee

Brothers-in-law – Vance (Anna) Chancellor of Jewett, Illinois and Don (Rosie) Chancellor of Greenup, Illinois

Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Joanna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Josephine Moreno and a sister-in-law Marilyn Chancellor.
