Joanne (Rapp) Herman, age 81, of Olney, went to be with the Lord at 11:40 PM on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Visitation will be from 2-4 PM on Sunday, March 12, 2017 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral service will be at 10 AM on Monday, March 13, 2017 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home in Olney. Burial will be at Wesley Cemetery in rural Clay County. Pastor Kaleb Kemper will be officiating.

Joanne was born on October 1, 1935 in Olney, the daughter of Albert J. and Lois E. (Stanley) Rapp. She later married Maurice Herman on October 12, 1957 at Blair Church in Jasper County. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2012.

She was a bookkeeper for many years. She was a member of Faith Bible Church in Olney. She was a homemaker, a member of the Professional Women's Association and taught quilting at Olney Central College. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Joanne is survived by her 4 sons, Arnold Herman and wife Kim of Effingham, Allen Herman of Canton, Michigan, Albert Herman of Gilbert, Arizona, and Earl Herman and wife Amy of Edwardsville; daughter Ellen Dasch and husband Steve of Noble; 8 grandchildren, Mark Herman, Kyle Dasch, Sarah Reynolds, Marissa Bower, Ryan Dasch, Brad Herman, Jeremy Herman and Matthew Dasch; and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Maurice Herman, parents Albert and Lois Rapp, sister Alberta Seesengood and daughter-in-law Sheryl Herman.
