Obituary
Joe G. Roberts, age 84
Of Newton, Illinois passed away at 2:55 AM - Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the Villas of Holly Brook in Newton, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Joe's life will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Central Christian Church in Newton, Illinois with Mike Knepper, Dale Hood and Jason Kinder officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois with full military rites by the Jasper Post #20 American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM – Friday, October 3, 2014 at the church.

Joe Garroll Roberts was born on August 6, 1930 in Toledo, Illinois the son of Ross and Carrie (Zike) Roberts. He graduated from Toledo High School in Toledo, Illinois in 1948.
Joe served his country in the United States Navy from 1948 to 1949. He married Lorene Eggers on August 13, 1948 in Morganfield, Kentucky.
Joe retired in 1993 after working for Country Companies Insurance for 30 years as an agent. He was a former volunteer fire fighter in Toledo and Casey and had the honor of serving as chief for the Casey Fire Department.
He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan and enjoyed fishing. But Joe's greatest joy was his family and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Joe is survived by-
Wife of 66 years – Lorene Roberts of Newton, Illinois
Sons- Jeff Roberts of Newton, Illinois and Kevin (Patti) Roberts of Dalton, Georgia
Daughter-in-law- Carole Roberts of Evansville, Indiana
4 Grandchildren- Stephanie (Bill) Gray; Brock (Shelley) Roberts; Brandon (Natalie) Roberts and Zach (Brittany) Roberts
10 Great-Grandchildren- Kelcy Gray; Hunter Phelps; Reagan Gray; Ryker Roberts; Kaden Roberts; Kallen Roberts; Nash Roberts; Bryce Roberts; Hadley Roberts and Henley Roberts
2 Sisters- Louise Roberts and Mildred Anderson both of Toledo, Illinois
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, son Wayne Roberts, grandson Matt Roberts and 6 brothers Harlan Roberts, Ralph Roberts, Euris Roberts, Eugene Roberts, John Roberts and Dale Roberts.
