John Joseph Barthelme, age 67

January 8, 1957 – March 1, 2024

John Joseph Barthelme, age 67, of Olney, Illinois, passed away at 1:10 PM – Friday, March 1, 2024, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM – Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Saint Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Sainte Marie, Illinois.  A private burial will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Sainte Marie, Illinois.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Olney, Illinois.  In loving memory of John, memorials may be made to John's grandchildren's education fund.  The obituary can be viewed, and condolences left www.meyerfh.com.

John Joseph was born on January 8, 1957, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Marjorie (Strutner) Barthelme.  He graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1975.

John was a hog farmer and currently worked at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Olney.  He was an avid sports fan.

John is survived by:

Daughters – Sarah (Matt) Parker of Newton, Illinois; and Jessie (David) Rudy of Marion, Illinois

Grandchildren – Colin Parker, Jon Rudy, and Joseph Rudy

Siblings – Ed (Diana) Barthelme of Aiken, South Carolina; Robert (Carolyn) Barthelme of Newton, Illinois; Marsha (Mike) Boyle of St Louis, Missouri; and Tom (Renee) Barthelme of Newton, Illinois

Brother-in-law – Tom Rubsam of Newton, Illinois

Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

John was preceded in death by his parents and sister Janyce Rubsam.
