John Hamilton, 80, of Olney passed away at 10:30 PM on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at his residence in Olney.

Celebration of Life service will be at 1 PM on Saturday, July 10, 2021 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home in Olney. Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial will be at Gila Cemetery in rural Jasper County.

John was born on November 3, 1940 in Jasper County, the son of Ezra and Elsie (Handley) Hamilton. He later married Patricia Hamilton. She preceded him in death.

He worked at All-Steel in Aurora, IL for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed going to Bluegrass Festivals, traveling and spending time with his family. He enjoyed traveling to several places including Las Vegas.

John is survived by his grandsons Tim Pease and Patty of Evansville and Greg Pease and wife Tiffany of Noble; great-granddaughter Kori Herrin and several other great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; niece Robin Kimpling and husband Philip of Olney; great-niece Zabrina Billberry of Olney and great-nephew Jimmy Zerkle and wife Kaitlin of Shiloh; and several other nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law Fern Hamilton of Englewood, CO.

He is preceded in death by his wife Patricia Hamilton, parents Ezra and Elise Hamilton, step-daughter Cindy Pease, 2 brothers George and Jim Hamilton, 2 sisters Minnie Bell Finn and Rheta Tarr and brother-in-law Doyal Tarr.
