John Arthur “Jack” Stuckey, age 88

August 26, 1938 – October 10, 2026

John Arthur “Jack” Stuckey, age 88, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 2:04 AM on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Jack’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Brother Zeb Myers and Brother Larry Matson, officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at the funeral home. The burial will be in the Tate Cemetery west of Bogota, Illinois. John Arthur, better known as “Jack” was born on August 26, 1938, in Coles County, Illinois, the son of Edward August and Olive Jane “Ollie” (Ratliff) Stuckey. He married Marilyn (Foster) Nester on October 20, 1984.

Jack was a floor covering installer for over 40 years. He was a member of the Hidalgo Baptist Church.

Jack enjoyed taking care of his lawn, traveling and spending time visiting with family and friends.

Jack is survived by:

Loving wife – Marilyn Stuckey of Newton, Illinois

Children – Michael (Amanda) Stuckey of Hidalgo, Illinois; Troy Nester (Crystal McKenzie) of Willow Hill, Illinois; Monty Nester of Newton, Illinois; John (Missy) Troyer of Lone Tree, Iowa and Tammy Troyer of Eureka, Illinois

Grandchildren – Aalina Stuckey, Kobi Stuckey, Mylee Stuckey, Madison Stuckey, Josephus Stuckey, Jackson Stuckey and baby Stuckey due in March 2027, Zach Goss, Megan Nester, Morgan Nester, Monica Nester (Cordell Thompson), Cheri Selby, Brandy Goodman, Jamie Selby, Alisha Troyer, Alexandria (Collin) Clark, Christyn (Tracy) Preece, Ashley, and Nathan

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Velvet Selby, son Craig Nester, siblings William Woods, Betty Jordan, Carl Stuckey and Charles “Chuck” Stuckey.
