Obituary

Mr. John Joseph Kuhl, age 90

of rural Newton, IL passed away at 1:45 AM – Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Newton Rest Haven in Newton, IL. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM – Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, IL with Fr. Al Kemme celebrating mass. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Wendelin, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until mass time at the church. In loving memory of John, memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Church. Arrangements are under the care of Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton, IL. John was born on January 10, 1921 in rural Moultrie County, IL the son of Joseph and Helen (Ament) Kuhl. He married Jeanette Ochs on October 5, 1948 at St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, IL.

John was a retired farmer and raised registered Angus cattle. He was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus and Jasper County Farm Bureau. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and played on several baseball and softball teams in his younger days.

John is survived by his wife of 63 years – Jeanette Kuhl of Newton, IL

5 Children – Henry Kuhl of Newton, IL

Therese (Ken) Rudolphi of Newton, IL Marilyn (David) Carlson of Galesburg, IL

Kathy (Alex) Chang of Champaign, IL Nancy (Steve) Baker of Shelbyville, TN

Grandchildren – Trisha (Jeff) Hahn, Liza Kuhl, Joe Kuhl, Nicole (Damien) Worrell, Sarah (Trevor) Martin, Amber Rudolphi, Laura Rudolphi, Leah Rudolphi, Irene Carlson, Martha Carlson

Step Grandson – Scott (Jeannie) Baker

Great Grandchildren – Chase Kuhl, Trevin and Mollie Worrell and Noah Martin.

Step Great Grandchildren – Hazel and Isaac Baker

John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ernest Kuhl, granddaughter Rachel Rudolphi and a great grandson Braxton Worrell.
