John C. Michl, age 65
Of Ste. Marie, Illinois passed away at 7:24 AM - Thursday, October 30, 2014 at his home.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, IL with Fr. Al Kemme celebrating mass. Burial will be in the St. Valentine's Cemetery in The Bend in Jasper County, IL. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the church and 1 hour prior to the mass. In loving memory of John, memorials may be made to Crossroads Beekeepers or Ste. Marie Sons of the American Legion squadron #932. Arrangements are under the care of Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, IL. John Charles was born on September 4, 1949 in Crawford County, Illinois the son of John R. and Naomi (Martin) Michl. John married Rose Marie Boehl on August 9, 1969 at St. Valentine's Church in the Bend in Jasper County, Illinois and she survives.
John worked for Rich-Law FS and later Wabash Valley FS in Newton and retired after 38 years of service.
John was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, Illinois. He was a Charter member of the Ste. Marie Sons of the American Legion squadron #932 having served in the past as commander. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #1704 and the Ambraw River Eagles.
John enjoyed woodworking and being outdoors riding his side by side, gardening, fishing and working with his beloved honey bees. He was a member of the Crossroads Beekeepers and the Illinois Bee Keepers Association. He was recognized as the Crossroads Beekeepers Association 2013 Beekeeper of the year and received the award for Best Tasting honey. John dearly loved his family and watching his grandchildren grow. He enjoyed spending time and visiting with friends at The Gas Station in Ste. Marie, Illinois.
John is survived by - Wife of 45 years- Rose Michl of Ste. Marie, Illinois
5 Children- Eugenia Coburn of Effingham, Illinois
Christina (Larry) Goss of Ste. Marie, Illinois
John E. Michl of Ste. Marie, Illinois
Melissa (Fiancé Steve Huffman) Michl of Olney, Illinois
Crystal (Rick) Green of Olney, Illinois
12 Grandchildren- Chase, Dakota, Arianna, Jack, Amara, Lexton, Waylon, Willow,
Jacob, Katie, Lacy, and Ashley
4 Brothers and 1 Sister also survive
John was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.
