Obituary

Mr. John A. Ochs, age 81of Newton, IL passed away at 9:57 PM - Friday, December 16, 2011 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM – Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, IL with Fr. Al Kemme celebrating mass. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Ste. Marie, IL with full military rites by the Ste. Marie American Legion Post #932. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Monday, December 19, 2011 at the Church and 1 hour prior to the service. In loving memory of John, memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Church. John was born on December 22, 1929 in Jasper County, IL the son of Alex and Grace (Miller) Ochs. He married Theresa Pettijean on April 9, 1958 and she survives. John served his county in the United States Army. He was a retired farmer and did custom wheat harvesting in Montana. John was a member of the St. Mary's Church; Ste. Marie American Legion Post #932. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards. John is survived by: Wife of 53 years – Theresa Ochs of Newton, IL 4 Children – Bruce (Nancy) Ochs of Ste. Marie, IL David (Norma) Ochs of West Liberty, IL Karleen (Tony) Prosser of Noble, IL Kristie (Mike) Abba of Carterville, IL 2 Brothers – Samuel (Mary Jean) Ochs of Fairfield, IL Albert (Marie) Ochs of Jacksonville, FL Sister – Evelyn VanDenBos of Pekin, IL 7 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren

John was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers William, Darrel and Delbert Ochs and 2 sisters Hazel Buchanan and Emilyann Dwyer.
