John D. Wiley Jr. of Parkersburg, passed away at 6:55 am on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Carle Richland Memorial.

John was the beloved husband of Nancy Wiley who preceded him in death. He was the loving father of three children, Hope (Mark) Wooldridge of Plainfield, IL; David (Lori) of Paris, and Terri (Kenny) Clodfelter of West Salem. His loving family also included 6 grandchildren, Mark Jr (fiancé Becky Smith), Dr. Daniel (Dr. Amber) and Bailey Wooldridge, Eli Wiley, Tyger and Darcy Clodfelter.

John graduated from Windsor High School in Windsor, in 1962. He married the love of his life Nancy A. Mewes on April 1, 1966. John was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Fort Ord, California for almost 2 years. John graduated from Eastern Illinois University and started teaching at ERHS until his retirement. He started several businesses including Real Estate, Appraisals, Auctioneering, gun shop, selling furniture and running a flea market.

John was preceded in death by his wife Nancy and both parents John and Camilla (Rose) Wiley.

Mr. Wiley loved spoiling his dog Queenie. She brought such joy to him. He also loved cars, shooting guns, watching Western and Army shows on TV. His favorite meal was fried chicken.

His six grandchildren brought great joy to his life. He enjoyed telling them stories of days gone by.

Visitation will be from 4-6 PM on Monday, November 21, 2022 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be November 22, 2022 at 10 AM with the burial at Zion United Methodist in West Salem. Pastor Mike Rucker and the Richland County Veterans Organization will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in John Wiley's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
