Josephine C. Spitzer, age 95
Of Ste. Marie, IL passed away at 10:35 AM – Friday, August 05, 2011 at Lakeland Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM – Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, IL with Fr. Al Kemme celebrating mass. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Ste. Marie, IL. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the mass at the church. Arrangements are under the care of the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton, IL.
Josephine was born on February 25, 1916 in Jasper County, IL the daughter of Ambrose and Minnie (Huber) Spitzer. Josephine moved at an early age to Chicago and retired from AT&T in manufacturing after many years of service. After living in Chicago for 64 years, she returned to Ste. Marie.
Josephine was a faithful member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. She loved spending time with family and friends, playing bingo and go on "boat trips."
Josephine is survived by:
Nephews – Paul (Marcia) Rexroat of Effingham, IL
Richard (Claudia) Wilkey of Des Moines, IA
Niece – Millie (Ed deceased) Murphy of Schaumburg, IL
And Grand nieces and nephews.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ruth Rexroat, Lucille Spitzer, Helen Frankfurt, Dora Peters, Mildred Shockley and Eloise Michl.
