Joyce Ann Stockwell, age 85

Joyce Ann Stockwell, age 85, of Wheeler, Illinois, passed away at 5:54 AM - Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

A service celebrating Joyce's life will be held at 10:00 AM – Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Latona Church of Christ in Latona, Illinois.  The burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery west of Latona, Illinois.  A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the church.  There will also be a visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, before the service.  In loving memory of Joyce, memorials may be made to the Latona Church of Christ Building Fund.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois. Joyce was born on April 12, 1940, at the family farm in rural Wheeler, Illinois, the daughter of Royal and Helen (Bragg) Dobbins.  She married Larry Rodney Stockwell on June 8, 1958, at the Latona Church of Christ and they enjoyed 55 years together until his passing on May 5, 2014.

Joyce was a loving wife and mother to her 4 children.  She was involved as a 4-H leader for many years and known as JC the Clown among the youth.   Joyce worked at West Junior High as a custodian and assistant cook.   She enjoyed her flower gardens, and working on all kinds of puzzles.  Joyce was a lifelong member of the Latona Church of Christ.

Children – Jane (Bruce) Elliott of Montrose, Illinois; Joni (Mike) Elliott of Wheeler, Illinois; Lori (Mark) Smith of Smyrna, Tennessee and Martin (Corina) Stockwell of Corydon, Indiana

Grandchildren – Tony (Mutinta) Elliott, Keith (Aubrey) Elliott, Kevin (Rachael) Elliott, Seth Elliott (Jessica Pickens), Cassie (Brad) Herman, Jessi Smith (fiancé Charles Barnes), Jeddi Smith, Josiah Smith, Sophi Smith

Yu-Ting Ciou Smith, Gabriel Stockwell (fiancé Santana Scott)

Great-grandchildren – Wyatt Elliott, Boone Elliott, Reed Elliott, Georgianna Elliott, Leland Elliott, Oliver Herman, Luna Herman

Brother- Dennis and Jeanne Dobbins of Wheeler, Illinois

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Gerald Dobbins and his wife Carolyn, granddaughter Daphne Elliott and brother-in-law Buddy and his wife Joyce Stockwell and Martin John Stockwell.
