Karen Gail Cleaver, age 74
Of Newton, Illinois passed away at 11:18 PM - Sunday, August 17, 2014
at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Funeral services celebrating Karen's life will be held at 11:00 AM – Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois with Chris Parr officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, IL. Visitation will be held 2 hours before the service. In loving memory of Karen, memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
Karen was born on September 1, 1939 in Effingham, IL the daughter of Lloyd and Lenora (Babbs) Flocken. She married Delane S. Cleaver on September 4, 1958 and he preceded her in death on December 1, 2009.
Karen worked for many years at the Jasper County Savings and Loan and later worked at McDaniel Oil Company.
Karen was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Newton, IL. She enjoyed painting, crafts, flower gardening, camping and crocheting.
Karen is survived by:
2 Children – David (Missy) Cleaver of Newton, IL
Julie (Michael) Shelton of Winnetka, IL
Grandchildren – Joshua (Andrea) Cleaver of Newton, IL
Jessica (Tim) Harris of Newton, IL
Jarret Cleaver (deceased)
Steven, Michelle and Hayley Shelton all of Winnetka, IL
Great Grandchildren – Payton, Parker, Preston and Paislee Harris, Nolen and Brooklyn Cleaver
Sister – Marla Flocken of Mt Carmel, IL
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a grandson Jarret Cleaver.
