Kathleen T. Scanlan, age 81
Of Newton, IL passed away at 12:09 PM – Monday, December 24, 2012 at St Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL surrounded by her children.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM – Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church in Newton, IL with Rev. David McNabb officiating. Burial will be in the Brick Cemetery north of Newton, IL. Visitation will be held 2 hours before services in the church. Arrangements are under the care of the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton, IL.

Kathleen was born December 31, 1930 in Oklahoma City, OK, the daughter of Frank and Doris Thompson. She attended Oklahoma State where she met her husband William E. Scanlan of Newton, IL. They married on July 21, 1950 in Oklahoma City, OK. After 45 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on August 6, 1995. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed reading, quilting, sewing and playing bridge with friends. She is survived by her daughter Linda and husband Warren Tarr, daughter Barb and husband Tom Netzer, son Brent Scanlan and wife Cheryl, son David Scanlan, eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings, and her son, Greg. Kathleen will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
