Larry Leon "Page" Goeckner, age 80, of Bishop Creek, Illinois, passed away at 2:41 PM - Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Illinois, with his loved ones by his side.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM – Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Bishop Creek - rural Dieterich, Illinois, with Fr. Frank Folino, OFM celebrating mass. Burial will be at the St. Rose Cemetery in Montrose, Illinois, with full military rites by the Teutopolis American Legion Post #924. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM - Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois. In loving memory of Larry, memorials may be made to the American Legion Post # 924 in Teutopolis, Illinois or to the donor's choice. Larry was born on April 2, 1940, in Effingham County, Illinois, the son of Joseph B. and Velear (Scott) Goeckner. He married Betty Clagg on October 8, 1960, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Montrose, Illinois. To this union three children were born, Douglas Leon, Dana Lynn and Dawn Lachelle. Larry served his country in the Illinois Army National Guard from 1958 to 1964. Larry and Betty lived in Aurora, Illinois, while he worked for Caterpillar, Inc. They returned to Montrose, Illinois, where Larry worked for the HarvestStore for many years until they settled in the Bishop Creek area. Larry established his family farm, raised hogs and sold feed for Moorman manufacturing. He grew up with a love of tractors, he enjoyed pulling tractors and draft horses, a love that he shared with his son and grandchildren. He fully restored his father's International Harvester Farmall M tractor. Larry loved to play cards, dominos and camping.
Larry was member of the St. Isidore Catholic Parish, Teutopolis American Legion Post #924 and the Teutopolis Knights of Columbus #2874.

Wife of 60 years - Betty Goeckner of Bishop Creek, Illinois
Daughters – Dana (husband Mark) Marshall of Latona, Illinois and Dawn (husband Todd) Heuerman of Teutopolis, Illinois
Daughter-in-law Denise Goeckner of Bishop Creek, Illinois
Grandchildren - Christina (husband Chris) Ordner of Sigel, Illinois; Joseph Goeckner (special friend Allison) of Bishop Creek, Illinois; Levi Goeckner (special friend Callie) of Bishop Creek, Illinois; Tiffany Goeckner of Newton, Illinois; Dustin (wife Bethany) Marshall of Latona, Illinois; Stacy (husband Matt) Burgener of Newton, Illinois; Ethan Marshall of Latona, Illinois; Amanda (husband Tom) Schumacher of Sigel, Illinois and Amber (husband Nathan) Sowers of Charleston, Illinois.
Sister-in-law – Jackie (husband Rick) Schackmann of Newton, Illinois
14 Great-grandchildren
Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, son Douglas Goeckner, his father and mother-in-law Morris and Jean Clagg, sister and brother-in-law Zona and Glen Addis and brother-in-law James Clagg.
