Larry was born and raised by James and Lenabell (Schrader) Totten on a farm outside of Olney, Illinois and after marrying his loving wife,
Nancy Bukowski, in 1978, raised his family just a few miles away. Larry enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1968 and served one tour in Vietnam. He was discharged in 1974 with the rank of Sergeant E-5. He was a Trackman for Illinois Central, now Canadian National Railroad for 31 years, having fun with his gang before retiring in 2006. Larry enjoyed growing huge vegetable gardens each year, one time growing a tomato plant that was 15 feet tall! Larry was a kind and supportive husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and nephew.
He would help anyone and the lack of his presence in the lives of those who loved him will be felt for years to come.
Larry is survived by his wife Nancy; children, Gina (Stephen Malone) Totten of Chicago, Illinois and Joseph (Lisa) Totten of Olney, Illinois; granddaughter Elizabeth Malone; sister Linda Craig; brother-in-law John (Sue Stahl) Bukowski and sister-in-law Marcia Horstmeyer,
Aunt Pat (Henry) Totten; sister-in-law Lisa Totten and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents James and Lenabell Totten, stepmother Leona Pemberton Totten;
brothers George, Leroy, David, and James Manford; brothers-in-law Allen Horstmeyer and John Craig; and niece Heather Cantonwine.
