Lawrence Xavier Zuber, age 72
of Newton, Illinois passed away at 12:45 AM – Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center Effingham, Illinois.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM – Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois with Fr. Robert Spriggs celebrating mass. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM – Monday, October 5, 2015 at the church
and 1 hour before the mass. In loving memory of Lawrence, donations may be made to
St. Thomas Catholic Church for Masses.
Arrangements are under the care of Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.
Lawrence was born on August 1, 1943 in Jasper County, Illinois the son of Frank J. and Margaret C. (Eckl) Zuber.
He married Carolyn Sue Newkirk on May 19, 1979 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, Illinois and she survives.
Lawrence worked for many years in the truss department at Jesse B. Holt, Inc. in Newton, Illinois. He was member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus #1704 in Newton, Illinois. He was a former member of the Holy Name Society and enjoyed gardening.
Lawrence is survived by-
Wife of 36 years- Carolyn Zuber of Newton, Illinois
5 Siblings- Mary Kessler of Ingraham, Illinois; Carolyn (Fred) Bugle of Westfield, Illinois; Joseph Zuber of Newton, Illinois; Bernard (Brenda) Zuber of Willow Hill, Illinois
and Gertrude (Gene) Murphy of Newton, Illinois
Brother-in-Law- Dan Bangert of Clay City, Illinois
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, sisters Florence Elizabeth Zuber and Theresa Bangert; brother Robert Joseph Zuber and brother-in-law Paul Kessler.
