Leona Viola Brooks, age 92, of Commisky, IN, formerly a long time resident of Noble, IL, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 4:00 AM on Sunday, March 23, 2013. She had been living at the home of her daughter, Barbara Graham and son-in-law, Brown Graham, since 2007.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the First Christian Church, Noble, Illinois. Visitation will be prior to the funeral from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the church. Internment will be at the Noble Prairie Cemetery.

Stasi Grove Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Leona was born on January, 22, 1921 at the home of her parents, Walter and Anna (Seessengood) Allen, who was living north of Noble at that time. She married Gideon Brooks, Jr on February 28, 1943. Junior preceded her in death on November 22, 2006.

She had worked at the Olney Shoe Factory, was a homemaker, taught Sunday School for many years and was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Leona and Jr. enjoyed many years of camping with family and friends after they retired from farming.

Leona is survived by a daughter, Barbara Graham, and her husband, Alfred (Brown) Graham, of Commisky, IN. A son, Danny, and his wife, Carolyne, of Noble, IL Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and three sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund or Hospice of Indiana.
