Loretta Kay Tarr, age 66
Loretta Kay Tarr, of Wheeler, Illinois, passed away at 9:12 AM – Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at her home.
Funeral services celebrating Loretta's life will be held at 10:30 AM – Monday, May 7, 2018, at the Latona Church of Christ in Latona, Illinois, with Nate Hagen officiating. Burial will be in the Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler, Illinois. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 PM – Sunday, May 6, 2018, at the church and ½ hour before the service. In loving memory of Loretta, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Fund, Latona Church of Christ or to HSHS St. Anthony's Hospice. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.
Loretta was born on December 30, 1951, in Paris, Illinois, the daughter of Charles Franklin and Margaret (Montgomery) Rich. She married Wayne Tarr on July 26, 1969, in Robinson, Illinois, and he survives.
Loretta graduated from Robinson High School in 1969. She worked as a secretary at GCIU Local 39 B in Effingham for several years.
Loretta was a faithful member of the Latona Church of Christ. She enjoyed raising flowers, quilting, playing cards, shopping, reading, 4-wheeler riding with Wayne and playing "Bunco" with her girlfriends. Her favorite time was spending time with her grandchildren.
Loretta was always willing to volunteer her time at church or at a Shriner's function.
Loretta is survived by: Husbnand of 48 years – Wayne Tarr of Wheeler, Illinois
Daughters – Tracy (John) Cashman of Chatham, Illinois and Christina (John) Erickson of Tinley Park,Illninois
Grandchildren – Elizabeth Cashman, Emily Cashman, Alex Cashman, Madeline Erickson, Rylee Erickson and Jack Erickson
Sisters – Phyllis Catt of Robinson, Illinois and Sharon (Andy) Shidler of Robinson, Illinois
several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews also survive
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Brenda Bonfiglo and Nancy Goble, and father and mother-in-law Ray and Okal (Bixler) Tarr.
