Lowell Edward Atwood, age 83 of Olney, passed away at 7:00 PM on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 6 PM– 8 PM in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 10 AM. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Noble, IL. Pastor Troy Reynolds will be officiating.

Lowell was born on February 2, 1933 in Mt. Erie, the son of William and Rachel (Gardner) Atwood. He later married Ina Wilson on April 12, 1956 in Olney. She survives.

He was a Prairie Farms Pasteurizer for many years. He also attended The Revival Center in Olney. He was a family man, a husband, and an all-around wonderful guy. He enjoyed wood working, playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was often referred to as "Mr. Wonderful." He also was a CPL in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Lowell is survived by his wife Ina Atwood; son Steven Atwood Sr. of Noble; 3 daughters Debra Millman, and husband Edward of Olney, Cheryl Allison and husband John David of Olney, Connie Hawkins and husband Dave of Olney; sister Joan Simmons and her late husband Don of Mt. Erie; 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Rachel Atwood, 6 brothers, Donald Atwood, Loyde Atwood, Layton Atwood, Robert Atwood, Joseph Atwood, and Gerald Atwood, and 3 sisters Mary Smith, Violet Merrick and Martha Street.
