Marlene Berry

Marlene Berry, age 90 of Olney, Illinois, passed away peacefully at Helia Health Care of Olney, Illinois at 7:30 AM on July 27, 2023.

A Celebration of Life Service Honoring Marlene will be held at the Free Methodist Church in Olney, Illinois on Saturday, August 12 at 2:00 PM

Marlene was born on November 23, 1936, in Sumner, Illinois, the daughter of Everett Earl and Lola (Tyer) Griggs.

Marlene married Raymond Berry, and he preceded her in death on October 8, 1987. Marlene was a member of the Olney VFW. Marlene worked at the Olney Shoe Factory until it shut down then she began working at the Richland County Country Club, where she waited on customers in many capacities including waitressing and bar tending. She loved her yard full of flowers and was always excited when they bloomed. She cared for all of the birds, feeding them each day and made sure the squirrels had their peanuts.  She loved going to the park to feed the squirrels also and then to Dairy Queen for an ice cream cone.  She loved family reunions and the Hopewell Church reunion in Sumner. Sending and receiving cards made her happy and the hummingbirds at ther brother Sam's house.

Marlene is survived by her children; Marla Weatherford, Judith Propes and Timothy (Jane) Berry.

Marlene is preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Vincent Berry, daughter Debra Akins, sisters Vera, Valetta and Veda, and brother Sam.
