Obituary

Mrs. Mary Kathryn Berry, age 88

Mary Kathryn Berry, 88, of Bloomington, Illinois, formerly of Olney and Clay City, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 8:32 PM on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at her daughter's home in Bloomington, Illinois.

Memorial mass celebrating Mary Kathryn's life will be held at 11:00 AM – Saturday, February 4, 2017, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, Illinois, with Fr. Dean Probst celebrating mass. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Ste. Marie, Illinois.  Visitation will be held 1 hour before the mass in church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sainte Marie Foundation.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.

Mary Kathryn was born on March 8, 1928, in Ste. Marie, Illinois, the daughter of Albert Eugene and Mary Elizabeth "Bess" (Litzelman) Geltz. She married Arthur Yost on May 8, 1948.  She later married Lyman Berry on December 26, 1973, and he preceded her in death on April 4, 1987.

Mary Kathryn is survived by:
Daughters - Sharon (Dan) Uhlir of Bloomington, Illinois;
Janice (Robert) Weidner of Clay City, Illinois and Elaine (David) Gill of Bloomington, Illinois
Sons - Tom (Carol) Yost of Normal, Illinois and Dave Yost of Watson, Illinois
Daughter-in-law – Marty Yost of Olney, Illinois
21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren
Brother - Robert Geltz of Oswego, Illinois
Sisters - Betty Knell of Warrenville, Illinois and Evelyn Kocher of Willow Hill, Illinois

Mary Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lyman, son, Don Yost, brothers James, Frank, Harold "Hezzie" and Norbert Geltz and a sister Melba Clayton.

Mary Kathryn was proud to be a 50+ year member of the Ste. Marie American Legion Post #932 Women's Auxiliary in Ste. Marie, Illinois.

Mary Kathryn appreciated Mother Nature and enjoyed the outdoors, flowers, bird watching and gardening. She loved spending her time cooking and baking for her family and also enjoyed reading and learning.

Mary Kathryn will be remembered fondly by her family.
