Mary Elizabeth Kessler Logan, age 95
Of Newton, IL passed away at 7:05 AM – Sunday, November 11, 2012 at St. Anthony's
Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at 11:00 AM – Saturday, November 17, 2012 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, IL with Fr. Al Kemme celebrating mass. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Ste. Marie, IL. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the mass. In loving memory of Mary, memorials may be made for Masses. Mary was born on April 17, 1917 in Bicknell, IN the daughter of Harry and Jane (Brown) Loving of Willow Hill IL. At that time her father worked in a coal mine known as the American No. 1 located in Bicknell, IN. When she was 10 years old her father was killed in a coal mine accident, she went to live with her grandparents George and Pearl Brown.
On September 10, 1935, she married Wilmer Kessler at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in St. Marie, Illinois. After their marriage they resided on a farm between Ste. Marie and Newton, Illinois where they farmed most of their married life. Later Mary worked at E.R. Moore garment factory for 10 years. After retiring from farming they moved to Newton. Wilmer preceded Mary in death on June 20, 1981.
Mary married Clive Logan of Edgewood, IL in September of 1984 and he preceded her in death in January of 1994.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Betty Niemeyer and son-in-law, James Niemeyer of Evansville, IN and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary lived her last ten years at Newton Rest Haven Nursing Home. She always had a smile and everyone that knew Mary loved her. She had a heart filled with compassion and caring for everyone.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, son Donald Kessler; granddaughter Aimee Kessler; 2 sisters Ruth Murphy and Louise Stauss and a brother George Loving.
