Mary JoAnn (Harre) Mielke, age 81, of Wheeler, Illinois, passed away at 2:45 AM – Friday, October 1, 2021, at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
Visitation will be held 10:00-11:00 AM – Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois. Graveside services will follow at the Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler, Illinois. In loving memory of Mary, memorials may be made to the Brownstown-St. Elmo Sports Boosters, and can be mailed c/o Barry Miller 1586 East 2300 th Avenue Brownstown, Illinois 62418. Mary was born on December 22, 1939, in Fayette County, Illinois, the daughter of James Fredrick and Evelyn (German) Harre. She married Kenneth Mielke on December 21, 1981, and he preceded her in death on February 14, 2019.
Mary graduated from Brownstown High School in 1959. She owned and operated Miller's Hardware Store in Brownstown. Later she worked at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, where she retired after several years of service.
Mary enjoyed gardening and doing yard work with her husband.
Mary is survived by:
Son – Barry (Kelly) Miller of Brownstown, Illinois
Step-Daughters – Patti (Roger) Swick of Newton, Illinois; and Victoria Whitehurst of Mt. Carmel, Illinois
Grandchildren – Paige (Jeff) Garrison of Brownstown, Illinois; Zack Miller (Kristina Jones) of Brownstown, Illinois; Paityn Miller (Colton Draege) of Vandalia, Illinois; and Lukas Miller of Brownstown, Illinois
1 Great Granddaughter – Emerson Miller

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Terry Miller in 1973, sisters Betty Yakel and Dianna Radcliff, and brothers Ted Harre and Reggie Harre.
