Mary Elizabeth (Ochs) Harris, age 89, of Naples, Florida, and formerly of Sainte Marie, Illinois, passed away at 12:30 AM – Wednesday, December 15, 2022.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM - March 11, 2022, at St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Sainte Marie, Illinois, with Fr. Dean Probst, celebrating mass. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Sainte Marie, Illinois. Visitation will be 9:00-10:30 AM at the church before the mass. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com .
Mary was born in Sainte Marie, Illinois, on November 12, 1932, the daughter of Frank Joseph and Margaret Gertrude (Shelly) Ochs of Jasper County. She married Harold Leo Harris on May 16, 1949.
Mary was a dedicated mother and homemaker. She later spent years as a nanny, taking care of children of doctors and lawyers. After that period, she cared for the elderly in their homes. She enjoyed cooking, travel and learning new things.
Mary was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Sainte Marie, Illinois.
Mary is survived by:
Children - Anita (Richard) Kocher of Oblong, Illinois; Carol Baley Traitor of Naples, Florida and Robert (Kathryn) Harris of Milton, Florida
Daughter-in-law - Sue Harris of Willow Hill, Illinois
Grandchildren - Michelle Shepston, Michael Harris, Mark Harris, Valerie Hermann, Janette Rosborough, Lori Davis, Mary Jo Roe, Aarika Harris Booker, Chris Clark and Melissa Bojanowski
27 great grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, son Paul Harris; son-in-law, Walter Traitor and her five brothers and seven sisters.
