Mary Ellen Wagner, age 84

of Newton, Illinois passed away at 7:01 PM – Monday, July 6, 2015 at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Mary's life will be held at 2:00 PM – Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, IL with Mike Knepper officiating. Entombment will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 2 hours before the service. In loving memory of Mary, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Support Fund P.O. Box 333 Newton, Illinois 62448 or the Jasper County Senior Citizens 904 West Jourdan St. Newton, Illinois 62448.

Mary was born on September 6, 1930 in Ste. Marie, Illinois the daughter of Louis and Lenora (Huber) Spannagel. She married Eugene O. Wagner on February 16, 1949 in Olney, Illinois and he preceded her in death on March 14, 2015.
Mary worked at Jasper County Senior Citizens and was a homemaker, farmer's wife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newton. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, raising flowers, playing cards and dancing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by:
7 Children – Janet Waggle of Newton, Illinois; Bob (Jeanne) Wagner of Newton, Illinois; Jim (Kathy) Wagner of Newton, Illinois; Susan Dowland of Norfolk, Virginia; Joan (Lindell) Galloway of Newton, Illinois; Don Wagner of Newton, Illinois and Tom (Colleen) Wagner of Montrose, Illinois Son-in-law – Steve Rudolphi of Watson, Illinois 20 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren and another due the end of the month
Brother – Frank (Mary Kay) Spannagel of Janesville, Illinois Brothers-in-law – John Dale (Sharon) Wagner of Newton, Illinois and
Melvin Wagner of Champaign, Illinois

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Betty Rudolphi, grandson Christopher Wagner, son-in-law Bill Dowland, brother Rick Spannagel, brothers-in-law Gerald Wagner and Raymond Wagner, Jr. and sisters-in-law Evon Stapp and Louise McClane.
