Mary Frances Wehrheim, age 90 of Olney went to be with the Lord on November 8, 2023, in Olney, surrounded by her family.
Funeral Services for Mary Wehrheim will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Olney, Illinois. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 AM until service time. Burial will be immediately following at Crest Haven Cemetery in Claremont, Illinois.
Mary was born on November 26, 1932, in Sailor Springs, Illinois, the daughter of Hugh and Gladys Bateman. She married Francis Elroy (Frank) Wehrheim, on August 22, 1970, and he preceded her in death on April 13, 2018. Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a kindhearted person, fabulous baker, and a blessing to many.
Mary worked as a payroll clerk at the Shoe Factory, and then in the office at Richland Memorial Hospital. In the early 90's, she and her husband Frank, owned and operated Poor Mary's Restaurant in Claremont, Illinois. She was famous for her freshly baked pies and desserts.
Mary was a faithful Christian and an active member of her church, the First Church of the Nazarene in Olney, Illinois where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years of her life. She had a heart for children and would shower them with love and fresh baked sugar cookies. Despite suffering from dementia, she proclaimed the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior to whoever would listen and would sing of His loving mercy and grace.
Mary is survived by son, Steven (Vicky) Lacoax of Spring Valley, Illinois; son, Kevin (Heather) Wehrheim of Cape Coral, Florida; daughter, Karen (late husband Eric) Seals of Noble, Illinois; daughter, Mary Ann (Chris) LeMay of Georgetown, Kentucky;
daughter, Deb (Bill) Nissen of Bloomington, Illinois; daughter, Teresa (late husband Dr. Neal) Mack of Fort Meyers, Florida;
loving caregiver, best friend, and granddaughter, Angela (Tony) Lomas of Olney, Illinois; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren,
and great-great grandchildren; sister Jean Porter of Anderson, Indiana.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant daughters Maurita and Melinda Wehrheim; daughter, Kimberly Lacoax; son, Dennis Lacoax; sister, Lucille Steele; sister, Codell Bateman; brother, Arkell Bateman; sister Loma Yates; sister, Imo Lee McGraw;
and sister, Norma Burgess
