Matthew Junior "Matt" Barnett, age 91

September 29, 1930 – November 17, 2021

Matthew Junior "Matt" Barnett, age 91, of Sainte Marie, Illinois, passed away at 8:30 AM – Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at his home.

Private family services were held.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.

Matthew better known to his family and friends as Matt, was born on September 29, 1930, in Kentucky, the son of Matthew and Willa May (Blackburn) Barnett.  He married Donna Kifer on January 8, 1993, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Matt served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  He worked as a welder for many years.

Matt was a member of the Sainte Marie American Legion Post #932.  He enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler, dogs and his playing with grandchildren.

Matt is survived by:

Wife of 28 years – Donna Barnett

Children – Edie, Richard, Jenny, Paul, David, Wendy and Brittany

Several grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive

Matt was preceded in death by his parents, step son Jerry Mashburn, 2 sisters and 1 brother.
