Matthew Wayne "Matt" Burke, age 54, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 1:26 PM - Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Illinois.

Matthew Wayne, better known as "Matt" was born on July 27, 1970, in Joliet, Illinois, the son of Wayne and Judy (Vidosh) Burke.  He graduated from Joliet Central High School with the Class of 1988.

Matt married Tara Marie Douthit on October 12, 1992, in Joliet, Illinois.

Matt was an over the road truck driver for several years and later worked at Seimer's Mill in Teutopolis, Illinois.  He enjoyed collecting knives.

Matt is survived by:

Wife of 32 years – Tara Burke of Newton, Illinois

Children – Joseph Burke (fiancé Alicia Buttery) of Newton, Illinois; Leah Burke of Newton, Illinois; Allie Burke of Newton, Illinois; and Joshua Burke of Newton, Illinois

Grandson – Asher Burke

Siblings – Margie (Kenny) Hill of Newton, Illinois and Timmy Burke (Cyndi Deitrich) of Casey, Illinois

Mother-in-law – Rose Douthit of Newton, Illinois

Matt was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and his father-in-law Harry Dale "Doc" Douthit, Sr.
