Obituary

Maynard Lee Davidson, Sr., age 82
of Newton, Illinois passed away at 10:30 AM – Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM – Saturday, February 6, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Newton, Illinois, with Rev. Stephen Willis officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois, with full military rites. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM – Friday, February 5, 2016 at the church. In loving memory of Maynard, memorials may be made to the Navy Chief Petty Officer Scholarship. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Maynard was born on December 21, 1933 in Fox Township, Jasper County, Illinois, the son of James Harold and Minnie Pearl (Painter) Davidson.
Maynard retired as a Chief Aviation Machinist's Mate (ADJC) after serving in the United States Navy for 20 years. He later retired from the CIPS Newton Power Station.
Maynard was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newton, Illinois; Jasper Post #20 American Legion; Newton VFW Post #7537; Navy Fleet Reserve Association; I.B.E.W. Local Union #806; and the Moose Lodge.
Maynard enjoyed dancing, playing cards, horseback riding, shooting guns, quail hunting, playing softball, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Maynard is survived by: Children – Mark L. (Linda) Davidson of Tallahassee, Florida and Melanee Lisa Davidson of Spartanburg, South Carolina
Grandchildren – John Michael Davidson, Mark H.L. Davidson, James B. Davidson, Christina A.N. Davidson, and Evalee C. Agerton

Brothers – Jerry (Shirleen) Davidson of Dexter, Georgia, and Jim (Connie) Davidson of Newton, Illinois
Sisters – Betty (Herman) Kocher of Olney, Illinois, Frances Dehner of Olney, Illinois, and Pauline (Mike) Phillips of Newton, Illinois
Maynard was preceded in death by his parents; a son Maynard Lee Davidson, Jr; and a daughter Michelle Lyn Agerton.
