Melvin Henry Staley, age 92, of Olney, formerly of Dundas, passed away at 3:25 PM on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Burgin Manor in Olney.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 4-5 PM in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home. Funeral will follow at 5 PM in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home. Gary Wachtel and the Richland County Veterans Organization will be officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Melvin was born on May 16, 1923, in Dundas, the son of Andrew and Ethel (Spiker) Staley. He later married Florence A. Stewart on September 1, 1950 in Olney. She preceded him in death on July 24, 2008.

He was a World War II Army Veteran. He worked at Roadmaster in Olney for many years. He enjoyed collecting tools and working on different things in his garage. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Melvin is survived by his son, Jeff Staley, and wife Sue of Calhoun; 2 daughters, Shiela Carlen, and husband Dennis, of Dundas and Diane Werley of Dundas; 7 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Florence Staley, parents Andrew and Ethel Staley, brother Delton, 2 step-brothers, Otis and Huey and step-sister, Edna.

Memorials can be sent to Cancer Research Institute in memory of Melvin Henry Staley.
