Michael Joseph "Mike" Rohr, age 58

January 2, 1963 – June 30, 2021

Michael Joseph Rohr, age 58, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 11:50 PM – Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham, Illinois.

Private family services will be held.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.

Michael Joseph better known to his family and friends as "Mike" was born on January 2, 1963, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Alfred Paul "Al" and Carol Anne (James) Rohr.  He graduated from Newton Community High School in 1981.  Shortly after high school, Mike went to work at UPS, where he retired with over 30 years of service.

Mike was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hiking, traveling and studying the stars.  He loved to travel out west, especially to the National Parks. His favorite park was Yellowstone, which he visited 31 times.

Mike was especially proud to have hiked the 211 mile John Muir Trail in Yosemite Valley in California, with his brother Linton.

Siblings – Bruce Rohr of Effingham, Illinois; Larry (wife Bambi) Rohr of Springfield, Illinois; Liz (husband Dean) Swingler of Newton, Illinois and David (wife Teresa) Rohr of Olney, Illinois

Nephews – Justin (wife Renee) Swingler and Nathaniel Rohr

Nieces – Morgan Swingler and Olivia Rohr

Great Nieces – Ava Swingler and Ellie Swingler

Sister-in-law – Karen Rohr of Torrey, Utah

Mike was preceded in death by his father and brother Linton Rohr.
