Monroe Orin Earnest, age 75, of Dundas, Illinois, passed away at 8:55 PM - Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois.

Private family services will be held with burial in the Sumner Cemetery in Sumner, Illinois.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.

Monroe was born on September 30, 1942, in Sumner, Illinois, the son of George E. and Hazel Mae (Hodges) Earnest.  He married Mildred Matlock on August 18, 1989, in Henderson, Kentucky, and she preceded him in death on November 20, 2010.

Monroe was a machinist at Roadmaster in Olney, Illinois, for many years.

Monroe is survived by:

Sons – Monroe (Cora Mae) Earnest, Jr. of Dundas, Illinois
and Thomas Earnest of Bremerton, Washington

Sisters – Lavina Hundley of Olney, Illinois; Mary Ann Tracy of Olney, Illinois; Lila Mae Piper of Sumner, Illinois; Wanda Chitwood of Sumner, Illinois; Effie Carie of Jeffersonville, Kentucky and Thelma McVaigh of Sumner, Illinois

Monroe was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
