Nicholas Stratos, better known as "Nick", was born on March 9, 1933, in Athens, Greece, the son of Stratos and Argiro Mathioudakis. At the age of 17, he traveled to Chicago, Illinois, under the guise of studying engineering, but he secretly pursued his passion for singing, his nickname being "The Greek Mario Lanza."
There Nick met his spouse, mezzo soprano Dorothy Helregel, and they were married on July 2, 1965 in Valparaiso, Indiana. They performed at night clubs and events throughout the United States and Europe.
Nick was a Quality Control Engineer for Morse Security Group in Burbank, California, and was known to his colleagues, family, and friends as "the man who could fix anything." Nick was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, Burbank, California.

Jenna Mathioudakis of Burbank, California
Grandchildren- Isaac Thaddeus Mathioudakis Stone of North Hollywood, California
Brother- George Mathioudakis of Athens, Greece
Sisters- Helen Assimakos of Athens, Greece
Brothers-in-law – Donald Helregel (Sara) of Lexington, Kentucky and Robert Helregel of Ste. Marie, Illinois
Sisters-in-law – Marilyn Huss of Chatham, Illinois and Judy Millsap (Gordon) of Ste. Marie, Illinois
Nick was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lefkos Mathioudakis, sisters Pitza and Fanni Mathioudakis, brother-in-laws Jim Helregel, John Huss, sister-in-law Carole Helregel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM- Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Saint Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Sainte Marie, Illinois, with Father Dennis Koopman, O.F.M. celebrating Mass. Visitation will be held for 1 hour (10:00-11:00 AM) prior to the Mass. Burial will be at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Sainte Marie, Illinois. In Loving memory of Nicholas, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois is assisting the family, www.meyerfh.com
