Norma Jean Carpenter, age 82

Of Mattoon, Illinois formerly of Windsor, Illinois passed away at 6:35 AM –

Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at

Mattoon Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM – Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the Meyer Funeral Home (formerly Bishop Funeral Home) in Greenup, IL. Burial will be in the Aten Cemetery in Hidalgo, IL. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, August 15, 2014 at the funeral home. In loving memory of Norma, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.

Norma Jean was born on May 22, 1932 in Hidalgo, Illinois the daughter of William E. and Bernice Irene (Hays) Reisner. She married Don Carpenter on January 7, 1951 in Champaign, IL and he preceded her in death on September 6, 2010. Norma worked for Adams Memorials and later RR Donnelley before retiring after 20 years of service. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds especially rubber stamping and loved to make Christmas treats for her family. She enjoyed working word puzzles and Sudoku puzzles. Norma was a member of the Marshall Avenue Christian Church in Mattoon.

5 Grandchildren- Stephanie (Ben) Rienbolt; Tim (Amy) McKleroy; Seth Carpenter; Kylie Randl and Kevin McKleroy

1 Great-grandchild- Harley Randl

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don and sister Betty Irene Pritchett.
