Norma F. Maxey, age 81, of Olney passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.
Visitation will be from 9-11 AM on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral service will follow at 11 AM. Burial will be in Washington Street Cemetery in Casey, Illinois. Reverend Chris Jennette will be officiating.
She was born on September 26, 1934 in Robinson, the daughter of Leo and Freda (Mitchell) Miller. She later married George Allen Maxey on April 12, 1951 in Marshall, Illinois. He preceded her in death in October 2000.
Norma was a house wife, worked at AMF and Kex and took care of elderly in their home. She attended Calvary Baptist Church in Olney. She was a member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary in Olney. She enjoyed playing bingo, doing word search books, and visiting with family and friends. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Allen Maxey, parents Leo and Freda Miller, son Robert Dean Maxey, daughter Linda Michl, brother James Hammond, sisters Hazel Koester, Rosemary and Robert Garrad and Mary and Artie Tracy.
Norma is survived by 2 sons, Joe Maxey Sr. of Olney and Rick Maxey and wife Patty of Salem; 2 daughters, Connie Maxey of Olney and Sheryl Park and husband Edward of Olney; 3 brothers, Robert (Bobby) Miller of Newton, Raymond Miller and Rosemary of Hunt City, Ralph Miller of Metropolis; 4 sisters Ella Logan of Olney, Donna Adams of Robinson, Alma Keys of Olney, and Loretta Maddox of Robinson; sister-in-law Imogene Hammond of Oblong; brother-in-law Lloyd Koester of Tennessee; 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Memorials can be sent to the Glaucoma Foundation in memory of Norma Maxey.
