Patricia Ann Garbe, age 81

Of Dieterich, Illinois passed away at 9:00 AM - Monday, October 13, 2014 at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Patricia's life will be held at 10:00 AM – Friday, October 17, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church 3 miles south of Dieterich, Illinois with Pastor Stephen Gillet officiating. Burial will be
in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 PM – Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the church and 1 hour before the service in the church. In loving memory of Patricia, memorials may be made to the St. John Cemetery Fund,

Siteman Cancer Center - designate to Pancreatic Cancer Research, or donor's choice.
Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois.

Patricia was born on August 1, 1933 in Oakley, Kansas, the daughter of Rev. Paul E. and Josephine (Trietsch) Kerkhoff.
She married Ernest Edward Garbe on August 7, 1955 at Grace Lutheran Church in Dieterich, Illinois and he survives.

Patricia was a graduate of Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a Registered Nurse degree.
She retired from Effingham County Health Department and Lutheran Child and Family Services along with doing Home Health Nursing and Hospice.

Patricia was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in rural Dieterich, where she served in various offices of Ladies Aid and as
Choir Director for 27 years. She was a board member of the CID LWML for 11 years and developed and directed the MOM's Outreach to MOM's Program of Effingham County.
She served on the Board and Executive Committee of the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont and was a board member of Illinois Lutherans for Life. Patricia was a Home and Community Extension member for 55 years. She had a talent for writing music and oil painting. She assisted her husband in their farming operation as time permitted.

Patricia is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ernest Garbe of Dieterich, Illinois; 8 Children Darrell Garbe of New York, New York; Jeanette (David) Worman of Effingham, Illinois; Michael (Gail) Garbe of Dieterich, Illinois; Paul (Kimberly) Garbe of Glen Carbon, Illinois; Barbara (Patrick) Fox of Nashville, Tennessee; Joyce (Matthew) Fauss of Woodlawn, Illinois;
Debra (Christopher) Bade of Nashville, Tennessee and
Karen (Chad) Staman of Nolensville, Tennessee.

19 Grandchildren - Breanne (Nathan) Weaver, Zachary Worman, Marissa Worman,

Brittany Worman, Nathan Garbe, Megan Garbe, Lauren Garbe, Logan Garbe, Jessica Garbe,

Alexander Garbe, Justin Garbe, Taylor Fauss, Trevor Fauss, Ethan Fauss, Eli Fauss, Jared Staman, Derek Staman, Morgan Staman,

and Caleb Staman, and 1 Great Grandchild Joel Wolfe.
