Patricia Ann (Volk) Shew, age 84, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 3:40 PM on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, Illinois. The burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Wendelin, Illinois. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 AM until mass time at the church. In loving memory of Pat, memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.
Patricia Ann, better known as Pat, was born June 8, 1942, in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of John and Martha (Fehrenbacher) Volk. She graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1960.
Pat retired from Superior Fuels in Newton after 30 years of service. Following her retirement she worked at IGA floral department in Olney.
Pat was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, Illinois. She enjoyed reading, walking, gardening and flowers.
Pat is survived by:
Children – Brad (Becky) Shew of Toledo, Illinois; Tammy (Dave) Rudolphi of Newton, Illinois; and Jennifer (Chad) Marshall of Newton, Illinois
Grandchildren – Brayson Shew, Emma (Dalton) Tinder, Lexi Marshall (fiancé Andrew Cuff) and Layna Marshall
Great Grandchildren – Avrie Tinder, Owen Tinder and Zoey Tinder
Sisters – Kay Stark of Olney, Illinois and Darlene Gauthier of Teutopolis, Illinois
Special Friend – Orville Dean Seesengood of Passport, Illinois
Pat was preceded in death by parents and infant sister Gladys Volk.
