Paul Donald Moore, age 92

August 2, 1931 – December 3, 2023

Paul Donald Moore, age 92, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 08:40 AM – Sunday, December 3, 2023, at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Paul's life will be held at 10:00 AM – Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Pastor Dean Herberts officiating.  The burial will be in the Mound Cemetery in Cowden, Illinois.  Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service (9:00 to 10:00 AM), at the funeral home.  In loving memory of Paul, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Support, PO Box 333, Newton, Illinois.  The obituary can be viewed, and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com .

Paul was born on August 2, 1931, in Cowden, Illinois, the son of Noble E. and Cecile L. McMillan.  His family moved to Decatur, Illinois, in 1943 where he attended Decatur High School and Millikin University. He later earned a Master's degree from Sangamon State University.

Paul served in the Army and was stationed in the Philippines during the Korean Conflict. He also served in the Peace Corp, volunteering in Ethiopia.

Upon returning home, Paul was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Company as an Engineer, then was employed by the State of Illinois Department of Transportation for 39 years. During this time, Paul earned a Masters of Divinity degree from the Christian Theological Seminary and travelled to 70 countries for pleasure and service. After his professional retirement, he continued to serve on mission trips around the world and volunteered for 17 years with a Dallas, Texas, based Christian organization. Paul was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, in Wheeler, Illinois, where he enjoyed the fellowship very much. He is survived by several nephews and nieces, as well as many grand and great grand-nephews and nieces.

Paul was preceded in death by; his parents, brothers Eugene wife Sylvia, Fred wife Janet, and Charles; a niece, Jennifer Witt and a nephew, Roger Moore.
