Phyllis (Sparling) Shaw, age 85 of Grayville, formerly of Olney, passed away at 3:01 AM on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Meadowood Nursing and Rehab in Grayville.

Celebration of Life service will be at 2 PM on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Olney. Pastor Erik Hopkins will be officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial will be at Haven Hill Memorial Gardens at a later date.

Phyllis was born on September 14, 1935 in Newton, the daughter of Vernie D. and Mildred (Yates) Sparling. She married Charles D. Shaw on June 18, 1957. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2005.

She worked at SWAN in Olney as a Domestic Violence Advocate where she earned the nickname "Mama-Sis" by her clients. She attended First Baptist Church in Newton. She enjoyed being the "mascot" for the Lions Club in Olney and was also a member of the Genealogy Club in Olney. She enjoyed many different hobbies such as singing, making dolls, watching romantic movies and going shopping. She also enjoyed going out to eat, long vacations and dancing. Her favorite type of music was listening to Country-Western or Elvis Presley. She enjoyed animals especially her pets. In her younger years, she enjoyed spending time at the roller rink going skating. She was loved by a lot of people.

Phyllis is survived by her 3 sons Terry E. Lewis and wife Jane of Knoxville, TN, Charles A. Shaw and wife Gloribeth of Princeton and Michael Shaw of Olney; 3 grandchildren Becky Dawson and husband Lynn, Charles Lewis and Kyle AP Shaw; and 4 great-grandchildren Morgan and Kenzie Dawson, Matlida Rosales and Donnie Lewis.

She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Shaw, parents Vernie and Mildred Sparling, brother Howard Sparling and sister Wanda Sparling.

Memorials can be sent to Alzheimer's Association in memory of Phyllis Shaw.
